Why train with us? We’re using drones in many sectors all day, every day. It’s what our business is built on. So rather than just educate you on the theory, we deliver training that is grounded in the reality of life as a commercial drone pilot – adding value to your knowledge and getting you ready for commercial operations faster than you might with other courses.

Your questions answered

Our combined A2 CofC and GVC (General Visual Line of Sight) course allows you to gain both an A2 Cofc and a GVC certificate (upon successful completion), an A2 CofC is required when Operating in the A2 Subcategory of the Open category, which allows you to fly drones up to 2kgs no closer than 50m horizontally from uninvolved persons.

The General VLOS Certificate (GVC) will allow you to apply to operate within the Specific Category under an Operational Authorisation granted by the UK CAA (requires an additional fee of £260 paid direct to the CAA).

The course examination is made up of multiple-choice questions, the completion of an operations manual and a practical flight assessment. The training is delivered by professional pilots all of whom have undertaken this training and apply their knowledge every day in the field.

The A2 CofC course takes the form of guided classroom learning, a short theory exam and a flight assessment.

The A2 Certificate of Competency qualification which will allow you to fly in the Open A1 and A2 Sub-Categories.

If you fly a ‘legacy’ UAS weighing 500g or less, your only proximity restriction is you should not deliberately overfly uninvolved people. With the GVC, this allows you to fly in the specific category, pending application and approval to the CAA for an Operational authorisation, this will be an additional cost paid directly to the CAA.

Please note if you are flying under another companies OA (e.g. employer) this will not be applicable.

You must prove that you have insurance in place before you start any course. You can purchase insurance at Coverdrone. Please ensure your insurance is compliant with EC 785/2004.

Yes absolutely. We can allow extra time for the theory examination to help with learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyspraxia.

Our Masterclass trainer has been delivering this training to individuals and leading organisations since 2017.
