Drone Pilot Course Cambridgeshire

What do you need to enrol?

Delegates must:

  • Have their own drone and insurance

  • For our Surveying Masterclass, delegates must have their A2 CofC and/or GVC qualification (awarded by an RAE) and must have appropriate insurance in place.

Why train with us? We’re using drones in many sectors all day, every day. It’s what our business is built on. So rather than just educate you on the theory, we deliver training that is grounded in the reality of life as a commercial drone pilot – adding value to your knowledge and getting you ready for commercial operations faster than you might with other courses.

A2 CofC / GVC Course

Our A2 CofC/GVC courses take two days and are based at our Littleport office in Cambs. This is an in-person course made up of theory, discussion, practical flight assessment and an exam.

The training is provided by CDT (Commercial Drone Training) and is led by two of our most experienced instructors; both working in the sector every day.

In addition to the training, we offer assistance with your CAA online application as part of the GVC section of the course – completely free of charge.

I’ve been a professional photographer since 2010. Over the years, I’ve considered dipping my toe into Aerial photography with a UAS (drone) to complement my commercial photography, especially with virtual tours and commercial video work. Purely by chance, while on holiday with my family, I met the owner of Sky Revolutions, and he told me about the Sky Revolutions Academy, which sounded just what I needed, so I booked their CAA-approved 2-day A2CofC / GVC course. I’d only had my drone for a few months, so I was going into this with limited experience. I needn’t have been worried! The instructor (Patrick) was extremely knowledgeable and covered the legislation, safety regulations, and all the necessary training materials required to pass both A2CofC and GVC exams. It was a lot to take in, but Patrick was very patient (No such thing as a stupid question - and yes, I asked a lot!) and paced at a level that covered all levels of experience. I was nervous about the practical test, considering my limited flying experience. However, Patrick explained everything very clearly and walked me through the process, and in the end, I had no issues during the assessment and passed the first time - I also passed both written exams, achieving 97% and 100% They even provide and go through an approved Operations Manual Template (and additional support) to help you apply for operational authority. The course will help grow the aerial photography side of my business, especially knowing that I will be flying safely and legally in accordance with CAA regulations. It also means I can use this fact in my marketing to stand out above the many drone photography businesses that are not flying legally and give my clients more peace of mind. Thank you, Sky Revolutions - Highly recommended!

Brilliant course, very thorough, enjoyable and engaging. Location was easy to find and the facilities/services were second to none. Patrick especially was incredibly knowledgeable on the subject matter and answered each and every question in an engaging and digestible manner. I would highly recommend this course for anyone with an interest in drones as what I took away will be invaluable moving forward with our drone services.

Just finished my A2 and GVC training and testing with Sky Revolutions. A great experience, professionally delivered with the benefit of knowledgeable trainers who added their experiences for further value. Patrick and Greg were open to any questions, stupid or otherwise and had plenty of fact-based evidence to support their answers. Training material was of a high standard. The practical test was well explained and their ever-present patience allowed for my plentiful clarification questions! The operations manual template was based on a an approved version and kept updated, and loads of advice was given on how best to personalise it. I’m sure the post-course assistance for CAA submission will be of the same level. Thanks SkyRevolutions!

Excellent service received from the Sky Revolutions team. Knowledgeable and precise advice around the project in question. Sky Revolutions explored all options before coming up with a final solution, which was fully discussed and all pro's & con's outlined, enabling us to understand their thought process. I recently worked alongside Ben Gorham, Director of Sky Revolutions, when he was contracted to carry out a drone land survey at my place of work. Ben took some really high quality video footage from the sky using the drone and shared this with me in just a few hours. Ben was very diligent when it came to health and safety procedures, which included liaising with the CAA, and I would certainly recommend Sky Revolutions to a colleague for this type of work.
