SRL Academy
Our A2 CofC and GVC training follows a blended learning format, combining mandatory online training with an in-person assessment day at our Little Donham office in Cambridgeshire.
The course begins with online learning, which must be completed in full before attending the in-person assessment. This online phase covers the core theory, exam preparation, operational considerations, and flight assessment readiness.
Once the online training is completed, candidates attend an in-person assessment day, which includes:
A2 CofC theory examination
GVC theory examination
Practical flight assessment (weather permitting)

Training and assessment are delivered in partnership with Commercial Drone Training (CDT).
As part of the GVC training, we also provide free support with your CAA online application to help ensure it is completed correctly and efficiently.

Our combined A2 CofC and GVC (General Visual Line of Sight) course allows you to gain both an A2 Cofc and a GVC certificate (upon successful completion), an A2 CofC is required when Operating in the A2 Subcategory of the Open category.
The General VLOS Certificate (GVC) will allow you to apply to operate within the Specific Category under an Operational Authorisation granted by the UK CAA (requires an additional fee paid direct to the CAA, for more information on CAA costs please visit the CAA website).
The training is delivered through a blended format. You will complete the online learning first, followed by an in-person assessment day once the online modules are complete.
GVC involves:
– Structured online learning to prepare you for the theory and practical assessment
– A supervised multiple-choice theory examination
– Completion of an Operations Manual as part of the GVC requirements
– A practical flight assessment (weather permitting)
A2 CofC involves:
– Online learning to prepare you for the theory examination and flight assessment
– A supervised multiple-choice theory examination

You must prove that you have insurance in place before you start any course. You can purchase insurance at Coverdrone. Please ensure your insurance is compliant with EC 785/2004.
Yes absolutely. We can allow extra time for the theory examination to help with learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyspraxia.

No. This is professional career development training that will equip you with a thorough understanding of UAV aerial imaging that will enable you to undertake enhanced imaging acquisitions for commercial mapping, surveying and photogrammetry.
Yes. There is a minimum number of participants required for each course to run – shown in your T&Cs.
If this number is not reached, we may cancel the course. In this instance or in any other instance where we cancel the course, you will receive a full refund.
Yes, public liability insurance will be required to take your flight test as part of the GVC course and for flights once you complete your course when not flown for recreational purposes.
There is also an application fee for the Operational Authorisation payable to the CAA directly (which is subject to change by the CAA).
